EWI Launches New Micro Business Enterprise Consulting
EWI recognizes that self-employment is a viable and valuable component of the
economic development system. Self-employment can help people add income and
develop both financial and non-economic assets. Some choose self-employment for
the flexibility afforded toward balancing home and work responsibilities. Many
times, starting a business is preferable to minimum wage labor. Plus, for many
people, self-employment offers the chance to use talents, realize suppressed
dreams, and find fulfillment that is rarely possible with other employment
options. EWI has consulted with several organizations to assist in developing
their Micro Business Enterprise goals. Locally, EWI consults with the
organizations, which provides participatory business skills and financial
education training for low wealth and lower income people interested in the
self-empowerment that can arise from functioning as entrepreneurs. EWI Partners
with community organizations that offers trainings on economic justice issues,
community financial literacy, and culturally appropriate development.
